How it works
1
Crevio hands work to a bot
You ask Crevio for something and it passes part of the job to a bot, for example “ask @researcher to compare our prices with three competitors”. The bot starts working in its own chat.
2
You change your mind
Tell Crevio to stop: “stop”, “cancel that”, “never mind the research”. A request to change how Crevio works, such as “use shorter answers”, is not a stop.
3
Crevio stops the bot
The bot’s current reply ends, the same way it does when you click Stop in a chat. Requests from Crevio that were still waiting for that bot are dropped.
4
The bot is told why
A short note from Crevio appears in the bot’s chat with the reason. The bot does not pick that work up again unless it gets a new request.
What a bot can and cannot stop
A bot only stops work that it asked for. This is by design, so one bot can never cancel something you or someone else started.
When Crevio cannot stop a bot’s work, it tells you who started that work and where you can stop it. It does not send the bot a message asking it to stop.
- A scheduled task run. Stop the run from the task under Scheduled.
- Anything else. Click Stop in that bot’s chat.
What stays
- Your own messages. If you sent a bot a message that was still waiting its turn, it stays and the bot answers it after the stop.
- Notes that need no answer. Updates Crevio sent the bot that did not ask for a reply stay, so the bot keeps that context.
- Long jobs on the computer. A command the bot was running as part of its reply stops with it. A long job the bot started to run in the background keeps going until it finishes.
- Anything already done. Stopping ends the reply. It does not undo changes the bot already made, such as a page it already edited or a message it already sent.
Limits
- Only bots, by name. Crevio stops a bot by its @name. It cannot stop work in another person’s chat.
- A bot cannot stop itself this way. To end a bot’s own reply, click Stop in its chat.
- Work that has not started yet. If Crevio’s request is still waiting in the bot’s queue, it is dropped rather than stopped. If it reached the bot at the very moment Crevio stopped it, the bot may still start it; ask Crevio to stop it again.
