Every Crevio account gets a free subdomain at yourname.crevio.app and a default outbound email address at yourname@email.crevio.app. On the Pro and Business plans, you can customize both by connecting your own website domain and email domain.
Custom domains and email domains are available on the Pro and Business plans. This includes domains you buy through Crevio. On the Starter plan, your site stays on yourname.crevio.app and emails send from yourname@email.crevio.app.

Website custom domain

A website custom domain lets your site live on your own URL (e.g., shop.yourbrand.com) instead of yourname.crevio.app.

Why use a custom domain

  • Branding — Your website URL matches your brand instead of showing crevio.app.
  • SEO — Search engines treat your domain as part of your own web presence, building domain authority for your brand rather than Crevio’s.
  • Trust — Customers are more likely to purchase from a URL they recognize as yours.
  • Consistency — If you already have a website, your website feels like a natural extension of it.

Default subdomain

When you create your Crevio account, you choose a subdomain. Your website is immediately available at:
This subdomain is always active, even after you connect a custom domain. Your subdomain must be:
  • Between 2 and 42 characters
  • Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
  • Unique across all Crevio accounts
Certain subdomains are reserved (e.g., admin, api, app, dashboard, www) and cannot be used.

Setting up a custom domain

1

Go to Custom Domain settings

In your dashboard, navigate to Settings > Custom Domain.
2

Enter your domain

Type the subdomain you want to use (e.g., shop.yourbrand.com). Click Save.
3

Configure DNS

Add a CNAME record at your domain registrar or DNS provider pointing to Crevio’s target hostname. See the DNS configuration section below.
4

Wait for verification

Crevio checks your DNS configuration automatically, rechecking every few minutes until it verifies — you don’t need to keep clicking Verify. Once verified, your domain goes through SSL provisioning and becomes active.

DNS configuration

Add the following CNAME record to your domain’s DNS settings:
If you are using a subdomain like shop.yourbrand.com, the Name field is shop. Root domains like yourbrand.com work differently — see Root domain below.

Example DNS configurations

Subdomain (recommended) Your website will be available at https://shop.yourbrand.com. Root domain To put your site on yourbrand.com itself:
  • Buy the domain through Crevio. Crevio manages its DNS, so your site goes live at yourbrand.com and www.yourbrand.com redirects to it, with no records for you to add.
  • Already own the domain elsewhere? Connect www.yourbrand.com with the CNAME record above, then set up forwarding from yourbrand.com to www.yourbrand.com at your registrar. Visitors who type either address reach your site.
A root domain from another DNS provider can’t be connected directly. It can’t hold a real CNAME record, and the address records providers use instead (ALIAS, ANAME, or CNAME flattening) don’t pass verification, even when they look correct in your registrar’s dashboard.

Domain verification process

After you add the DNS record, Crevio verifies your domain in stages:
Crevio rechecks your DNS every few minutes while a domain is Pending. DNS propagation times still vary by provider — if your domain stays Pending for more than a few hours, double-check your CNAME record and ensure there are no conflicting records (like an existing A record on the same name). Crevio shows the specific problem it found (for example, no record yet, or the record pointing somewhere else) so you know what to fix.

SSL / HTTPS

SSL certificates are provisioned automatically for your custom domain. You do not need to purchase, upload, or manage certificates yourself.
  • Crevio uses Cloudflare for SSL provisioning.
  • Certificates are issued and renewed automatically.
  • All traffic is served over HTTPS. HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS.
  • Your customers always see the padlock icon in their browser.

Troubleshooting

Crevio rechecks your DNS every few minutes and shows the specific issue it finds. Use a tool like dnschecker.org to confirm your CNAME record has propagated, and remove any conflicting A records on the same hostname.
This means you’re using a root domain (yourbrand.com instead of www.yourbrand.com). Root domains can’t hold a real CNAME record, so many DNS providers silently substitute address records for it — even when the record in your registrar’s dashboard looks like a CNAME. Verification needs the actual CNAME, so a root domain connected from another DNS provider will never verify. Connect a subdomain like www.yourbrand.com instead — see Root domain above.
SSL provisioning happens after DNS verification. If your domain is in SSL pending for more than an hour, try removing and re-adding the domain in your Crevio settings. Ensure your DNS provider is not proxying the CNAME record (if using Cloudflare for DNS, set the proxy status to DNS only / grey cloud).
Go to Settings > Custom Domain, remove the current domain, and add the new one. Update your DNS records accordingly. The old domain will stop serving your website once removed.

Email domain

You can also send outbound emails from your own domain instead of @email.crevio.app. See the Email domain guide for setup instructions.
