# Teach Crevio new skills

> Install ready-made skills, record yourself doing a task so Crevio can repeat it, and see everything your assistant has learned about your business.

**Crevio can learn.** Out of the box it knows how to run a business. What it doesn't know is how *your* business does things -- the way you word a refund, the checklist you run before a launch, the report your accountant wants on the first of the month.

You teach it once, and it knows from then on. Those are **skills**, and you'll find them under **Settings** > **Skills**.

## Why you'd use it

* **You repeat the same task.** Teach it once instead of explaining it every time.
* **You have a way you like things done.** A skill captures the steps *and* your preferences, not just the outcome.
* **You want to stop supervising.** A task Crevio knows how to do is a task you can hand over completely.

## Three ways Crevio picks up a skill

### Install a ready-made one

The **Skills** page has a library of skills you can install with one click -- researching competitors, writing SEO copy, auditing ads, and more. Browse or search, click **Install**, and your assistant can use it immediately. Uninstall any time; nothing else changes.

### Show it, don't tell it

This is the fastest way to teach something fiddly. Crevio has its own computer with a screen, and you can record yourself using it.

    In any chat, open the menu next to the message box and choose **Teach a task**.

  <Step title="Start recording">
    Click **Start recording**. Crevio's screen appears and it starts watching. Now do the task the way you'd normally do it.

  <Step title="Stop when you're done">
    Stop the recording. Crevio watches it back, works out the steps, and writes them up as a skill -- narrating what it's learning as it goes.

  <Step title="Check what it learned">
    It'll tell you what it took away. If a step is wrong or you left something out, just say so in the chat and it'll correct the skill.

<Note>
  A recording can run up to 30 minutes. If a task is longer than that, teach it in pieces -- one skill per stage works better anyway.

### Just tell it

You don't always need a recording. Say *"from now on, when someone asks for a refund, check the order date first and reply with the template I use"* and Crevio writes itself a skill from that. Anything it works out on its own while doing a job can become one too.

Skills your assistant wrote for itself show up on the **Skills** page under **Learned by your AI**, so you can always see what it thinks it knows. Remove any you don't want it using.

## Upload your own

If you already have a process written down, you can upload it as a skill from the **Skills** page rather than retyping it into chat.

## See what your assistant is working with

Crevio keeps its skills, notes, and working files on its own computer, and you can look through them. It's read-only -- you're seeing what your assistant sees, with files opened and formatted so they're actually readable.

<Tip>
  Not sure whether it picked something up? Just ask: *"what do you know about how I handle refunds?"* It'll tell you, and you can correct it on the spot.

## If something goes wrong

    Check it's still listed under **Settings** > **Skills**. If it's there, the skill may not describe clearly enough *when* to use it -- tell Crevio the situation it should fire in: *"use the launch checklist skill whenever I say I'm launching something."*

  <Accordion title="It learned the task slightly wrong">
    Say what's off in the chat -- *"you skipped the part where I check stock first"* -- and it updates the skill. You don't have to record it again.

  <Accordion title="The recording wouldn't start">
    Crevio's computer needs to be awake before it can be recorded. Send it a message first, wait for a reply, and try again.

  <Accordion title="I can't see the Skills page">
    Skills are managed by account admins. If you've been invited to someone's business with limited access, ask an admin to make the change.
